NYC is a day trip!

On Tuesday we took the train down to Penn Station and then to the consulate. It was easy getting there, but once inside major chaos - probably because of the President's Day holiday Monday. Once through security we got a ticket with a number and you had to wait until your number flashed up on the displays above the windows. They went by so fast we missed our first time around... anyways, after dropping off our passports and paperwork, we went to see our friend Shawn, who works in NYC. It was really great to see him. We visited where he works and hang out for lunch together. We missed seeing his wife Kristin and new baby Ronin.
After visiting Shawn, we went back to the consulateto pick up our new visas. They were really neat. The day went by really fast and the consulate was very efficient. The DMV could learn a thing or two from the Chinese. Thankful the trip was easy going and we were able to take an earlier train home. NYC is definitely a day trip!

We have travel dates

I just got off the phone with Steve from Holt. He has put in for our consulate date to be March 21st. This means that we will be in Beijing on March 10th and return March 23rd. It seems like tomorrow. This past weekend was crazy! We finished all our travel shopping, baby proofed the house, and started to pack. We're off to NYC tomorrow to get our visas.

One month down, 3 to go ...

It's been about 5 weeks since out letter of acceptance was sent to China. Our agency said that we would travel 2-4 months from that date. Whew... slowly but surely we're getting there. We've been keeping busy by shopping for new toys and clothes. Doug has been working to finish the basement and this weekend I started the girls' scrapbooks. Our "projects" definately help time go by, but it is starting wear on us a bit. Let's all say our prayers for quick travel - we're running out of projects.
